Explore giant cottonwoods and views of the Matanuska River at the Matanuska River Park! The park has approximately 1.6 miles of trails, which form a loop from the parking areas to the river.  The trails connect to other park amenities including a playground, day use area with multiple pavilions, a bike park pump track and an 86 spot campground with an RV dump station as well as flush toilets and hot showers.

When snow cover is sufficient, the campground loops and park roads are groomed for skate and classic skiing.  In winter, the trail system provides a great opportunity for snowshoe users and winter walkers.

The park can be accessed at Mile 17 Old Glenn Highway; this will take users to the main parking area with direct access to the campground, and other amenities.  Other trailhead options allow users to access the park via the Matanuska River Trail system. One of these trailheads is located just southeast of the campground entrance at the Old Glenn Highway bridge over the Matanuska River. The other Matanuska River Trail trailhead is accessed at 546 W Eagle Ave in Palmer.
