Mat-Su Borough Trail Crew Appreciation

The Mat-Su Borough Trail Crew has been involved in a variety of trail projects across the Mat-Su this summer. We at Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation want to help spread the word about all the exciting projects they’ve been up to, working hard to care for all our wonderful outdoor recreational opportunities in the Mat-Su!

Earlier in August, Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation partnered with other businesses and non-profits to recognize all the work the MSB Trail Crew does for our community at an appreciation gathering.
Thanks to Revel Treks and Tours for coordinating the event!

Here’s some photos the Mat-Su Borough Trail Crew has shared with us to showcase their projects!

This summer the MSB Trail Crew:

  • brushed approximately 50 miles of MSB trails!!!
  • installed new trailhead signs at 6 locations
  • built 0.4 miles of new tread at Crevasse Moraine College Connector
  • built 0.6 miles of new tread to connect existing trails at Talkeetna Ridge Trail Connector
  • applied 0.3 miles of new gravel at Jordan Lake Park Big Lake
  • removed GeoGrid at Fish Lake Park Big Lake in preparation for paving
  • replaced broken cables, fixed crib steps, and installed educational signage at West Butte Trail
  • assisted park staff with installing new water lines for upper RV loops at Matanuska River Park
  • assisted SCA crew adding and re-compacting new gravel at Pink Wild Rose Trail at GPRA
  • conducted early and late season trail surveys
  • cleaned out trail drains and improved tread at multiple locations
  • removed fallen and likely to fall trees from trails at multiple locations

We are so grateful for all the care and attention the MSB Trail Crew has given to the trails and parks we cherish here in the Mat-Su. Thank you MSB Trail Crew for the work you are doing to ensure these resources can be enjoyed by current and future generations. We appreciate you!
