Nancy Lake State Recreation Area Trail System Preservation Project
Your donations help fund maintenance projects in beloved recreation areas like Nancy Lake State Recreation Area.
This year, Alaska State Parks along with student volunteers from the Overland Project Group completed 1520 feet of step and run boardwalk, built a 60-foot-long floating bridge, maintained two smaller pre-existing bridges, and installed geogrid to help preserve the Rhein Lake trails in the nine-mile Nancy Lake Ski Trail System in the Nancy Lake State Recreation Area.
In addition, crews laid down 320 feet of black spruce corduroy to strengthen the trail tread and re-routed half a mile of trail along the lakeshore. These improvements provide trail access for multi-season year-round use, cross-country skiing in winter, and hiking or mountain biking when trail conditions allow.
This work was completed in part due to a $39,476 grant from the Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation. Projects like this are only possible due to generous community supporters like YOU!
